UPDATE: MAPOLY to be upgraded into university as Ipokia gets new Ogun Polytechnic
The Ogun state House of Assembly has received a bill seeking the upgrading of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta into the Moshood Abiola University of Technology, Abeokuta.
Another bill in the Assembly seeks the establishment of the Ogun State Polytechnic at Ipokia in Yewa axis of the state.
The bills were sent by Governor Ibikunle Amosun to the Assembly for accelerated consideration.
The Speaker, Suraj Adekunmbi read the governor’s separate requests on the bills during the plenary of the house.
The Governor asked the Assembly to fast-track its consideration of the bills.
Meanwhile, the House Finance and Appropriation Committee has submitted its report on the Ogun State 2017 Appropriation bill to the whole house.
Governor Amosun last November 22 had presented the bill to the House for consideration, after which the government’s ministries, department and agencies defended their respective budgetary allocation before the committee.
The N221.12 billion bill include capital expenditure of N118.3 billion and recurrent expenditure of N102.8 billion with education sector taking the lion share of N47 billion, closely followed by rural and infrastructural development/employment generation which is allocated N44.2 billion.
